Well I feel like my post is sort of off topic, but I'm hoping to co-ordinate with anyone up my way for trail riding.  Anyway, I'm up in the north east corner for Fort Collins.

......hopefully I'm not the only one this far north?

I remember one time a gal rode one one of Linda's horses to Imelene's. She had just tied up the reins when the horse spun around and RAN all the way back to Kenlyn's!
That is what I would worry about if I wanted to have a picnic while on a trail ride!  What if my horse got spooked and broke away?  If he was in a strange place, where would he go?  Would he get hurt or get someone else hurt?  Would I be able to find him if he ran away?  I am a very big worrywart so I try to stick to situations that I think will be safe.

The nice thing out at Coal Creek arena where my friends and I did picnics. Is there are gated stalls you can put the horses in. There's room for like 4 of them, one in each pen. Then all along the outside there is a run you can close of other gates to.
If we all wanted to do like a picnic trail ride that might be fun to do. You can park the trailers there, or meet at Kenlyn and trail ride in with picnic stuff in saddle bags. Ride to coal creek, nice that there is 2 different trails. One were you can be out in the open, not many things to spook your horse, or down in the trees.

Once you get to coal creek you could untack the horses if you want.

DunGoneYankee, usually about 2 times a summer I head up to the north side to trailride.  We do Lion's Gulch and sometimes White Ranch.  I will post and let you know when the weather warms up.  The horses have to be in good shape to ride in the trailer for several hours and then be ridden for several hours, so it is usually later in the summer.

I'm here in Owl Canyon. Always ready for a trail ride. You might want to join the Meet Up Group, Northern CO Hoof Beats. They are very active.

Lynn, thanks for the tip, I'll have to check that group out.  Though unfortunately I'm without a trailer at the moment, so most of my trail riding takes a lot of planning and strategic bribery of my more fortunate friends ;-)  But let me know if you're ever looking for a partner one week, and I'll try and work it out with one of them (also, I work in repro so our busy season is just getting kicked into gear).

Electrasproblem, that kind of trail ride sound right up my alley.  I would love to join you when you decided to do it.

Lynn and DunGone Yankee, I to am in Ft Collins and every now and then look for someone to ride with.  I am however without a trailer as well so it makes it hard.  Another group that is quite fun in the Ft Collins area is Larimer County Horseman's Association (LCHA).
