Hey
I run a pony ride business and I got a call yesterday from a Church wanting to rent a donkey on Easter in Brighton.
I have a donkey but no way will I ever get her in a horse trailer unless I rig up a winch.

Does anyone have a donkey that wants to earn a few extra bucks.

lol
I think they want a standard size to carry Mary...I know mine would do that but getting her in a horse trailer would be impossible. She is as stubborn as they come.
I have not called them back to get more details. I kinda wanted to see if I can get them lined up first.

She would be ok for what they are looking for, walking just a short time. When i got her she was a foot curled feet forward. So she has rotated her coffin bone and will not be sound ever. I can keep her trimmed and she has good days and has bad days. When I got her she was either 3 or 5 and NEVER had her feet trimmed.

Trust me Hon, she will not load. I have tried a million times. The only way in the past to get her in the shoeing stock was to winch her in with my truck. Putting a thick rope around her neck and run it through the halter and pull her in. I think after doing this a few times she decided to let us trim her feet with out the stock, which has been a blessing. One way or another she was getting done. She had been neglected enough in the past.

it just takes a lot of time and patience, I thought you where talking about that girl with the bad feet, she is so lucky you took her, she would probably be Canadian food by now. she is very pretty. well, I looked on craigslist and a few other places...no donkey, unless you want to adopt blitzen from long hopes.

yeah, I was talking about Irma. She really does nothing for me but brae each feeding. She is really sweet but when it comes to making her do things she can be and ass. :-)  I just felt sorry for her as to why I took her in. I was asked if I would sell her a few months ago. They offered me $500.00. I paid $400.00 for the shoeing stock and all the extra trimmings to get her where she is now. I told them no because she has a life time home with me. I put in all the hard work and making it easy to deal with her now, but she she first came me to me boy she was a lot of work.
If she was ever completely sound I would love to teach her to drive, even if it was just lead line driving. I think it would be an awesome job for her, Make her feel she has a job to do here just ike the others. I can wish but most likely it will never happen.
